DYMO News – August 2008

Greetings!
DYMO Camp 2008 was a wonderful success! 103 campers and 29 staff, mirroring the diversity of our diocese, gathered for an amazing week of renewal, fun and growth. We could give you an extensive recap of camp but instead we’ll encourage you to do the following two things:

Here is some exciting news:

Tentative dates for DYMO 2009 will be Sunday June 7 – Saturday June 13.  We are hammering out a few final details, but you can pencil in these dates for now!  Watch for updates.  Central Planning Committee applications from former campers are currently being accepted.  Staff applications will be available on the web site soon, too.

Jim Kulfan, member of St. Pius X Parish and Parish Administrator at St. John Vianney Parish, celebrated his 30th consecutive year as a volunteer with DYMO Camp this year. 30 years… that’s just two years after modern Catholic youth ministry got its start with the release of the U.S. bishops’ statement A Vision of Youth Ministry! In order to recognize this amazing dedication and leadership to DYMO, Jim was presented with the Companions on the Journey Award. This award is the highest recognition from the National Federation of Catholic Youth Ministry for a diocese to confer to adults. Congratulations… no, THANK YOU Jim!

Finally, we would like to congratulate Sally Sremba for responding to the call of serving as the new DYMO Camp Director.  Sally is a parishioner at Holy Redeemer in Jenison and has been involved with DYMO Camp for many years.  Sally will join directors Dianna Rottiers (St. Pius X, Grandville) and Bob Bacik (St. Anthony of Padua, Grand Rapids) to head DYMO Camp 2009.  Welcome Sally!

Blessings,
Dianna Rottiers
Bob Bacik
