The Pinewood staff greeted the students wearing their capes, and the CPC helped greet everyone. After everyone tracked down their cabins amidst the wooded hills, it was time to start training all of these soon-to-be hero disciples that entered Camp as our students.

Enter the coordinators of the “Superhero Disciple League” with a presentation in skit form, and instructions for everyone. Training commenced immediately with sessions in Zero Gravity Training,

New heroes need all the training they can get, after all.
When the disciples in training returned to Headquarters (the main lodge), the students were introduced to the other members of their DYMO Church Families. These are small groups that stick together throughout the week for discussions, activities, sharing and many meals.
Dinner was nice, even the “Frog Spit” dessert.

As part of the evening presentation, we observe the SDL interviewing recruits in another skit. People like St. Andrew, Laura, St. Bernadette of Lourdes, St. Aloysius of Gonzaga, McKenzie, and other saints and students.

One saint asked the question on many of our minds: Just what is a superhero?
What did the League representatives say? “Someone who has the power to do good.” “…a strong ethical and moral code…” “…even putting themselves at risk…” “…someone with a story…” “…with a theme in their lives…” “…a cast of supporting characters…” “…lots of enemies…”
The saint character seemed confused, and commented, “You call these individuals ‘superheroes’? In my day we called them ‘Christians’.
Point taken.
The evening activity revolved around the cabin groups, and included strange animals
pillow fights
and, of course, superheroes!
